The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is working on a single-line agenda of making chief minister Narendra Modi's 'Sadbhavna Mission' a mega show. Modi has announced he will fast for three days from Saturday for "strengthening Gujarat's environment of peace, unity and harmony".

For the BJP, it is a show of strength. All party workers have been asked to leave behind their routine works and join chief minister Modi for three days at Gujarat University

Location where the fast will occur

Day after the Supreme Court verdict in Gulbarga Society riot case, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi hit out at his detractors for defaming him for the 2002 riots and announced he would undertake a three-day fast for peace, harmony and unity in his state.

"You cannot achieve Sadbhavna by merely going on such five star fast with the help of entire state machinery. You first divided and polarized the society for political gains and now talk about Sadbhavna for also political gains," Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela said reminding Modi of 2002 riots in which over 1200 people were killed.

Meanwhile at Modi's fast venue, over 3000 policemen, two bomb disposal squads will remain on stand by mode at the high profile fast venue where top BJP leaders including LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari are expected to visit during the three day. Moreover, a huge media centre is also being set up to facilitate live coverage on TV channels.
