Toyota recall 2011, Toyota Recall in US, Canada & UK, Toyota Lexus Recall 2011, Toyota Recall 1.7 million vehicles due to Fuel Leak Problem
Toyota recalled nearly 1.7 million cars worldwide Wednesday for fuel leaks, the latest in a ballooning number of quality problems that could add another dent to its tarnished reputation in the crucial U.S. market.
The transport ministry of Japans said in a statement, “Slight cracks may appear on the engine fuel pipes. If it continues to be used, the crack may be widened and there may be risks of fuel leakage.”
One of the recalls stems from an “improper installation of a sensor to measure fuel pressure that may cause the sensor to loosen as a result of engine vibration over time, and possibly cause fuel leakage”, the company said.
This is Toyota's third consecutive million-plus vehicle recall.
